Stripe Agentic Commerce

Stripe powers the payment infrastructure for agentic commerce through two key innovations: Shared Payment Tokens (SPT), a new payment primitive that lets AI agents initiate payments using buyer permission without exposing credentials, and the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), an open-source standard codeveloped with OpenAI. SPTs are programmable by design—scoped to specific businesses, limited by time or amount, revocable, and monitored via webhooks. The protocol enables ChatGPT Instant Checkout and over a million Shopify merchants. Merchants using Stripe can enable agentic payments with one line of code, while those using other processors can participate via Stripe's open specifications.
